Australia vs India 1st Test 2007: Matthew Hayden awarded "man of the match"

Australia team has achieved their 15th successive Test win against India with one day to spare at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australian left-hand opening batsman Matthew Hayden has been awarded ‘man of the match’. Because of him Australian skipper could get the win and hope to equal the own record of 16 consecutive Test win at Sydney.

Matthew Hayden is one of the most dependable and leading run scorer opening batsman. This 36 year old batsman has already made some records in Test cricket. In his 92nd Test match, he scored 8003 runs total at an average of 53:00.

He made his debut in Test cricket against South Africa as an opener in March 4-8, 1994 at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Since then he is playing for Australia team.

Australia vs India 1st Test at MCG has finished without any excitement. It was one-sided game. Matthew Hayden’s 28th Test century made the fate of Australia team. He scored 124 in the first innings of the 1st Test match. He broke the record of Allan Border’s highest test century, who made only 27th Test century in 156 Test matches. However, in the second innings he scored 47 runs and entered in to the 8,000 Test runs before getting out in the ball of Harbhajan Singh to give a catch at long-off to Sourav Ganguly.

I know, you are talking abut Aussies pace bowlers, who dismissed Indian strong batting line up in a poor score. But from my point of view, Matthew Hayden is the perfect person to haul the man of the match prize as because of him Australia could manage 343 runs where others were useless.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Australia achieved 15th successive win beating India by 337 runs

Beating India by 337 runs and with one day in hand, Australia has achieved their 15th consecutive win in the first Test at MCG venue.

Chasing an improbable 499 run score, India collapsed 161 runs in the second innings of the fourth day.

India started their fourth day 6 without losing any wicket with Rahul Dravid was on 3 and Wasim Jaffer was on 2.

After Wasim Jaffer and Dravid departed India were ticking along nicely as VVS Laxman, Tendulkar and Ganguly played some impressive strokes but none could build a match-saving partnership. Dravid, who scored 5 runs facing huge balls in the first innings, tried to protest Australian bowling attack also playing 16 runs off facing 114 balls in the second innings. V.V.S. Laxman was the highest run scorer in his side. He scored 42 runs including 6 boundaries. Sourav Ganguly also played another big innings of 40 runs before he became the victim of Brad Hogg.

Australian left-hand fast-medium bowler Mitchell Johnson finished the day taking the wicket of Rudra Pratap Singh. He claimed 3 for 21 in 15 overs with the most important wicket of MS Dhoni.

Brett Lee and Brad Hogg got 2 wickets each. Andrew Symonds claimed only one wicket and that was Rahul Dravid.

The highest successive run chase at the MCG was England’s 332 against Australia in the 1928-29 Ashes series. However, India needed a record score to win the match. Being a hard and strong batting line up, India also failed to save the match.

However, Indian captain Ricky Ponting is looking towards the Sydney Test to make match will start from 2nd January, 2008 aiming to equal their own record of 16 straight Test win. It may not be hard task for Australia team.

Only India could stop the record of Steve Waugh’s Australia’s 16 successive Test win in 2000-01 at Kolkata. So, it is expected to Indian fans to repeat the same thing in Aussies soil.

India can change some of their top players. We again can see Virender Sehwag.

So, dear Indian fans wait to see what Virender Sehwag can do for India team until the second Test match will start.

Australia vs India 1st Test: Can India Save the Test?

Day by day India vs Austraia 1st Test is becoming more exciting and competitive. Fans of both teams are eagerly waiting to know the match result. Only one question is heard more and more that who will win in the 1st Test match, India or Australia. The fate of this match has been already decided 60 percent after the end of the second day. It is thought that Australia may win the match.

Chasing the score of 343, India team dismissed all the wickets managed 196 runs. No one Indian batsman could make any protest against Australian pace attacking. Stuart Clark and Brett Lee finished the day with 4 wickets each.

However, Australia set tourist India a monstrous target of 499 after Ricky Ponting declared their second innings to make score 351 for 7.

Fans of Indian teams are still hoping that India will save the match and make any miracle win chasing 499 runs in the second innings. But I have to admit that save this match is not easy for India team. It is thought that India has strong middle order batting line-up but against India it seemed useless and breakable. Being an experienced and old player, only a few batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly could protest Australian pace attacking.

Australia are seeking their 15th successive Test victory and chasing the world record of 16 wins that was made by Steve Waugh’s Australia team from 1999-2001. However, India stopped the record of Steve Waugh’s 16 successive win in their soil in 2001 at Kolkata.

Slow pitch and crack is helpful for pace bowlers. So, Australian pace trio Stuart Clark, Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson will get more benefit in the fourth day.

Only three teams in Test cricket history have scored 400 or more in the fourth innings for victory. The West Indies hold the record of 418 for seven when they beat Australia at St. Johns in 2003. India amassed 406 for four to beat West Indies in Port-of-Spain in 1976 and Australia hit 404 to defeat England at Headingley in 1948.

England’s 332 for 7 is still the highest successful run chase in the fourth innings at MCG that was made 79 years ago.

Now, India team will have to bat two days that will be the third longest fourth innings in history. Even if India save the match and make it draw then they have to bat 180 overs that is totally hard and impossible for any team.

What is thinking India team getting win or saving the match? However, we can see it tomorrow when India team will face Australian pace attacking in the fourth day.

One questing is also raising in my mind that can India team make any miracle in Test history and can stop the Australia’s record again.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Harbhajan Singh claim 250 Test wicket

Harbhajan Singh is perhaps the most successful finger spinner in the world. He has made many records with his off-break bowling action. Not only this but also he has got approval for dusra action after Muralitharan. Now, he is taking more and more wickets with his dusra bowling action. However, he was dropped from national team but come back with Twenty20 tournament and his selection was in doubt in Australia tour.

Indian right-hand off spinner Harbhajan Singh again has proved that his selection was not wrong decision. With the match of India vs Australia 1st Test, he has made another new record. He has entered the 250 wicket Test club at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after picking the wicket of Australian captain Ricky Ponting.

After claiming 251 wickets, he has become the fourth Indian bowler after Anil Kumble (591), Kapil Dev (434) and Bishan Singh Bedi (266) to achieve the feat.

Harbhajan Singh picked up three for 101 runs in the second innings at MCG that was bettered than one for 101 in the second innings of the 2003-04 Brisbane Test. He got all of the most three important wicket of Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist.

Indian bowlers have proved their talent and capability now, it is the time for Indian batsman to show their strength and batting skill against Australia team.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Matthew Hayden made 8,000 Test run

India vs Australia 1st Test is going on. Australia has already declared their 2nd innings after making a monstrous chasing score of 499 against India. India team has to make miracle win if they want to make a record in Aussies soil. Many records have been made today. Indian finger spinner Harbhajan Singh has entered 250 wickets in Test Club and Matthew Hayden has passed his 8,000 Test runs and it is the most talked topic now.

Australian left-hand opening batsman Matthew Hayden is perhaps the most dominating and aggressive tall batsman in the cricket world.

He has just passed 8,000 Test runs in the second innings of the 1st Test against India at MCG.

Before the start of the 1st Test between India and Australia, Matthew Hayden needed only 168 runs to pass the 8000 mark.

However, it takes only one Test match to pass the lank mark. In the first innings of the Boxing Day Test match, he scored 124 runs and today he got out after scoring 47 runs off facing 54 balls including 6 boundaries. His total score is 8003 in 92 Tests at an average of 53:00. He got out in the ball of Harbhajan Singh give a catch to Sourav Ganguly at long-off.

Now, it is expected to him to enter the list of 10,000 Test runs. It is not so far and hard for Matthew Hayden. If he can continue his form then we can see him quickly to pass the record of 10,000 runs and make a new record in Test cricket.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Match report of the 3rd day

India vs Australia 1st has become exciting and competitive. Fans of both teams are waiting to see the winning team in this match. However, it is still doubt that who will win or match turn into a draw.

Indian opening pair Wasim Jaffer and Rahul Dravid guided their team to six without losing any wicket in the second innings as they set about chasing a monstrous 499 victory over Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting declared the second innings after scoring 351 for 7 late on the third day. Brad Hogg was unbeaten 35, his highest test score, and Brett Lee was 11 not out when Ponting declared the second innings.

India safely finished the third day without losing any wicket, with Wasim Jaffer was on two and Rahul Dravid on three.

India team will have to make record to get win in the first cricket to come from behind chasing a historical score against Australia at MCG.

Only three teams in Test cricket history have scored 400 or more in the fourth innings for victory. If Indian can make any miracle then they will be number fourth team.

The West Indies hold the Test record of 418 for seven when they beat Australia at St. Johns in 2003, while India amassed 406 for four to down the West Indies in Port-of-Spain in 1976 and Australia hit 404 for three to defeat England at Headingley in 1948.

However, Australia team is seeking their 15th successive Test victory chasing the world record of 16 wins that was made by Steve Waugh’s Australia team from 1999-2001.

India team is now in hard condition. If they want to make record then they have to make score more than 499 or have to play 180 overs (two days) to make the match draw.

Harbhajan singh who got chance in the main squad as a second spin bowler claimed three important wicket. He got 3 for 101 off 26 overs and all of the wickets were important for India team. He claimed Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist. He is the first Indian bowler who break threw the wicket.

Michael Clarke was the highest run scorer for Australia team. He scored 73 runs and after got stumped out by MS Dhoni off the bowling of Indian captain Anil Kumble.

Opener Phil Jaques who scored 66 in the first innings also made another consecutive test fifty before being caught and bowled by Kumble.

Hussey got out after scoring 36 runs without any boundary giving a catch to Sachin Tendulkar in the first slip.

Andrew Symonds missed another test fifty for 6 runs after getting out in the ball of Zaheer Khan.

Matthew Hayden had just passed 8,000 runs before he became the victim of Harbhajan Singh to give a catch to Sourav Ganguly at long-off for 47.

Tomorrow fourth day, Indian opening pair again will start their batting. Pitch has become slow and crack. So, no doubt, Indian batsmen have to face big problem to play this pitch.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Brett Lee claim 250 Test wicket

Australian right-hand paceman Brett Lee, who has developed into a model of line and length bowling action, is perhaps the fastest bowler in the cricket world. He always dominance over opponents team with his fast and quick bowling action. He has also claimed more wickets with his fast delivery. However, this bowler has become the sixth all-time leading Australian wicket-taker overtaking Richie Benaud after taking 4 for 46 against India at MCG. He has reached the 250 mark.

Brett Lee played a major part in helping the Australia after bundled tourist India in a poor score and make a 179 run lead after the end of the second day. More three days and 10 wickets are left to get a result in the first match of the four match Test series.

31 year old fast bowler Brett Lee is now happy to make the name of 250 club. He said, “But to think that you're in the 250 club, it's a pretty special moment. I’m very proud man.”

He claimed the wicket of Wasim Jaffer (4), V.V.S. Laxman (26), Anil Kumble (27), Zaheer Khan (11).

Now, this is perhaps the luckiest year for Brett Lee. He awarded man of the series against Sri Lanka and also played well against New Zealand. But he was left-out from Australia’s national team for 18 months because of ankle injury and also missed this year’s world cup mission because of same problem.

For Australia team, he is the first bowler to break threw the opening pair and helped his team to come back in the first test and seek for 15th successive Test win.

Cricket is an uncertain game and anything can happen any time. So, it is doubt to say what will happen in the second innings. May Australia will win the Test match or Indian top four batsmen make the match result draw.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Exciting condition after the end of the 2nd day

Australia could add 6 more runs in the last wicket of the second day and got all out within 343 runs. Indian leading bowler Zaheer Khan got the last wicket.

However, India’s first innings was not good enough and being a hard batting line up. They could manage 196 runs losing all wickets off playing 71.5 overs. Sachin Tendulkar batted pace attacking well but he couldn’t continue it. After scoring 62 runs, he became the victim of Stuart Clark. Second highest run scorer is Sourav Ganguly. He got bowled out in the ball of Brad Hogg. Ganguly gave Brad Hogg another moment to remember. 11 years ago he was the first victim of Brad Hogg. However it was the 100th Test match for Sourav Ganguly and it was expected to his fans to see him hit 100 in this match but unfortunately he got out scoring 43 runs.

Rahul Dravid scored only 5 runs off facing 66 balls. He stayed in the field long time but failed to prove his talent. Among four wickets it was the most valuable wicket for Stuart Clark.

Laxman (26), Indian skipper Anil Kumble (27) and finished India’s first innings taking the wicket of Zaheer Khan (11). He got 4 for 46 off 19.5 overs. With the wicket of Zaheer Khan, he reached the milestone by joining his former attack-mates Shane Warne, Glen McGrath and Jason Gillespie in securing his 250th victim. He is the sixth Australian bowler to cross the huge quantity of wickets.

Australian left-arm Chinaman bowler Brad Hogg claimed 2 wickets.

India’s first innings were dismissed 147 runs behind Australia’s first innings of 343.

However, Australia started their batting in the second innings where they scored 32/0 off playing 8 overs. Matthew Hayden (22) Phil Jaques (10) are now in crease. Australia take 179 run lead after the second day.

However, at last they could manage 337 for 9 off playing 90 overs. Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden scored his 28th Test century in this match. Hayden shared in a century opening partnership with Jaques and departed at the fifth wicket. Indian leg-spinner and recent captain of India team, Anil Kumble first broke the partnership after taking the wicket of Phil Jaques who was replaced with Justin Langer. No doubt, their starting was well and it showed Australia to make another hard chasing score against India. In this venue, they won their last eight matches. Now, Australia has only one wicket left. However, Anil Kumble followed the wicket of Mike Hussey (2), dangerous big-hitter Andrew Symonds (35), Adam Gilchrist (23) and Brett Lee (0) to finish the day with five for 84 off 25 overs.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Squad of Australia Team

India vs Australia 1st Test is knocking at the door. Only one day is left to start the 1st Test between India vs Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Tomorrow 26th December, 2007 India vs Australia 1st Test will start with the Boxing Day. The five-day Test match has already become more excitement and competitive. It is expected that more than 75,000 people will come to see the match on stadium.

No doubt, India vs Australia 1st Test match will be one of the most excited math as both teams luck and record hang on this match. Australia is very hard and strong opponent team in their home side. Since 1992-93 no one tourist team could defeat Australia team in their home ground. Australia needs more 3 successive win to break the record of Steve Waugh’s Australia (Steve Waugh got 16 Tests win). And Indian players are hoping to get win in Aussies soil first time.

As it is a great opportunity to break the previous record so, Australia’s skipper is in excited about their main squad. So, playing four pacers is still in doubt. Brett Lee and Stuart Clark are already fixed in the main squad as a bowling side. Now, it is perhaps the fight between Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson. Between them only one will be picked but it is difficult to say who will be the lucky player. Or regular Chinaman spin bowler Brad Hogg may be left-out from the main squad. Australian skipper Ricky Ponting can’t fix the main squad. He told that he will take decision after checking the MCG pitch.

MCG pitch is bouncy and wet field that is helpful for pace bowling. Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden will appear as an opening pair. Andrew Symonds will keep himself in middle order to tackle the Indian bowling attack.

The main problem of Australia team is their bowling side. Dear fans don’t mean that Australia team is lacking of good pace bowlers. The problem is that they can’t select their top four bowlers.

However, tomorrow both India and Australia will face each other for the glorious win. Then dear fans you can see how many pace bowlers Australia is playing against India in Boxing Day.

Squad of Australia team: Ricky Ponting (capt), Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Phil Jaques, Michael Clarke, Mike Hussey, Andrew Symonds, Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Stuart Clark, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Tait.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Four Pace bowlers in the 1st Test?

India vs Australia 1st Test is coming closer. Only 1 day is left before the start of India vs Australia 1st Test. The first of the fourth match Test series will take on 26th December, 2007 with the Boxing Day. This five-day Test match is going to take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Melbourne is affectionately called MCG. MCG is one of the longest sporting venues in Australia. It holds the record of taking highest lighting tower in sporting venue. Now, fans of both teams are looking towards the MCG ahead of the first test match. It is much expected match and it is hoped to see more than 75,000 fans on stadium in the first day.

With huge excitement, India vs Australia 1st Test is going to start from tomorrow. This match has already become more because of many reasons. It is the 100th Test match for Sourav Ganguly. And perhaps it is the last Australia tour for Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar. Gilly (Adam Gilchrist) will appear with pink color gloves.

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting is in a fix about their main squad ahead of the 1st Test. Australian skipper is taking more time to announce their XI squad. They will announce it Wednesday morning after checking the ground. It is depending to use four pace bowlers in the 1st Test. Brett Lee and Stuart Clark are two professional bowlers in Australia team. Shaun Tait and Mitchaell Johnson are likely to join the main squad. It is difficult to select anyone between them. Regular chainman spin bowler Brad Hogg is likely come back in the main squad. And Ricky Ponting is also likely to choose spinner as a fourth bowler. It is uncertain who will be included as an expert four bowler in Australia team. MCG is likely to favour for pacer. This has bouncy and wet field. And India is best to beat any spin bowling attack. No one team could use their spin attacking against Indian team. Even Shane Warne had no good experience in that team. So, Australian think-tank should leave spinner. Between Mitchaell Johnson and Shaun Tait anyone can be picked. Or the fight can be held between Mitchaell Johnson and Brad Hogg.

Shaun Tait has been selected as a 12th player. And he has just come back from injury. And first test of the four-match Test series is very important for Australia team as they need only 3 successive win to break the record of Steve Waugh.

However dear fans tomorrow you can see who has got chance as a fourth bowlers. So, wait until the match will start and keep watch on your TV.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Bowling side of India team

It is known to all that batting is the main strength of Indian cricket team. But if I ask you what is the weak-side of India team then what will be your answer bowling or fielding. However, India has developed their fielding side. Now, ahead of the 1st Test, Indian team manager and captain are busy about their bowling action. Most of the Aussies pitch are bouncy and pace friendly and it fall tourist in a big problem.

Indian selectors may use two specialist and experienced spinners in the India vs Australia 1st Test which will take place on 26th December, 2007 at Melbourne Cricket Ground with the Boxing Day. You already know that this match will start at 10:30 local time and 23:30 GMT. Anil Kumble is the new captain of Indian cricket team. And as a captain this is his first Australia tour. He is leading wicket taker and spin bowler in India team. Now, with him we can see another spin bowler, Harbhajan Singh. Playing two spinners depends on how the pitch looks the morning of the match. And selection Harbhajan Singh in the main squad is still in doubt. Anil Kumble has confirmed that strong batting line up will be the key to putting pressure on Australia team.

Both Kumble and Harbhajan Singh are in good form. They have impressive record against Australia team. Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh bowled most overs for Indian team in their recent 1-0 home series against Pakistan.

Selecting two spinners in the main squad leave India likely to choose two left-arm pacers from RP Singh, Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan. All of them are in good form. It has becomes so difficult for India team.

Bowling is the most important part in cricket game. Even good bowling attack can make the match easy to get win. And I also believe that nothing can recover weakness of bowling. So, Indian selectors should give more priority about their bowling side and play 3 specialist pacers in the India vs Australia 1st Test match. If they include Harbhajan Singh then I think it will be great opportunity for Indian team to dominance over Australia team.

India vs Australia 1st Test: Who will make the record?

If you want to know about First day of Australia vs India 1st Test then visit this link:

Australia vs India 1st Test: First Day Condition

http://football-cricket.blogspot.com/2007/12/australia-vs-india-1st-test-first-day.html

India vs Australia 1st Test will take on 26th December, 2007 at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day. This five-day Test match will begin from 10:30 local time and 23:30 GMT. Fans of both teams are looking towards the 1st Test. Australia will has already got win in 14 Test matches and now they need 3 more matches win to break the previous record that was made under the captaincy of Steve Waugh. Less than 48 minutes are left to start the match. Ahead of the 1st Test against tourist India team, Australia will be warm favorite to extend their win run to 15 in the four-match Test series.

Making new record is the main target of Australia team. They need 3 more wins but getting win is not easy for host team as the opponent is India. The world number one team has enviable record at the MCG. Last year they defeated England by an innings and 99 runs on the way to regain the Ashes.

Getting win against India will be difficult task for Australia as India has formidable and experienced batting four Sachin, Sourav, Dravid and V.V.S. Laxman who scored 32,610 runs from a total of 442 Tests and with 87 centuries between them. These batting four are in good form. Sourav Ganguly is the top scorer in this month’s series against Pakistan. He scored 534 runs in three matches. So, he will appear as the main target point to Australian bowlers.

Perhaps Australian think-tank can play four pace bowlers in this match. Problem is that where McGrath and Shane Warne couldn’t tame Indian batsmen there what these four bowlers will do.

If Australia can get 2 win then it will equal their previous record. That is why, Australian captain and players are giving more importance of their 1st Test match.

India restrained Australia from their record 16 winning streak in test cricket in Australia’s 2000-2001 tour to India.

So, it seems that India again can do the same work in Aussies soil. Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar and some other senior players are hoping to get series win and make a record as since 1992 no one tourist team got win in Australia.

No doubt, first day many people will come to see the match live on stadium. A crowd of about 75,000 is expected to cram into the MCG for the opening day.

Now, it is much talked topic that who will make record India or Australia. If India can get win then obviously it will be a new record. On the other hand, if India get win in 3 test matches then the previous record will broke down.

I know you are excited to know the future. Future is unknown so, you have to wait until the match will start at MCG ground.
