50 Things You should know about Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid, who was the symbol of strong and defensive batting style in Indian cricket team and the part of Indian batting trio, is now in under pressure because of his bad performance both of Test and ODI. Now, recently this year, he announced his resignation as captain of India team. And he was also dropped from the Indian ODI squad following poor series against England and Australia in 2007. No doubt, he is a talented batsman and still he has many talents to give his team. That is why; this batsman is working hard to come back in the main squad of Indian ODI team. And I hope he will come back soon showing his impressive performance.

  1. His full name Rahul Sharad Dravid.
  2. He is a right-hand batsman and right-arm offbreak.
  3. He was born on January 11, 1973, Indore, Madhya Pradesh but he grew up Bangalore, Karnataka.
  4. His zodiac sign is Capricorn by birth.
  5. He can speak both Kannada and Marathi.
  6. His parents are Sharad-Pushpa Dravid.
  7. He has a brother named Vijay.
  8. His father worked for Kissan, a company known for james and preserves so, he earned a nickname from his teammates at St. Joseph’s, Bangalor.
  9. Rahul Dravid earned his degree in commerce from St. Joseph's College of Commerce.

  41. Dravid has been involved most in the most century partnership in Test history. He made 65 times hundred runs partnership in Test cricket.
  42. He is the 9th batsman to score twin hundreds in a Test twice, and only the 2nd Indian to do so, after Sunil Gavakar.
  43. He made second highest run partnership in Test along with Virender Sehwag of 410 runs against Pakistan at Lahore in 2006. It is the highest run partnership between captain and vice-captain.
  44. He is currently joint 4th along with Brian Lara among batsmen who have scored most away runs in Tests (5288 as of August 9th 2006). Only Sachin Tendulkar, Allan Border and Vivian Richards have scored more away Test runs.
  45. He is the only players to score century against every Test playing nation away from home.
  46. He is the fasted to reach 9000 runs in Test cricket. And he took only 176 innings to do it. West Indian batting great Brain Lara betting the previous record by 1 innings.
  47. Dravid is one of the three batsmen to hit Test centuries in four consecutive innings. The other two are Jack Fingleton and Alan Melville.
  48. He achieved this by hitting scores of 115, 148, 217 and 100*. Three centuries came against England and one against West Indies.
  49. He became only the third captain from India to win a Test series in England after 21 years. Other two captains being Kapil Dev (1986) and Ajit Wadekar (1971).
  50. During his captaincy the Indian team broke the 14 match West Indies record for most consecutive won matches in One-Day Internationals while chasing a total.
