Barcelona will travel to ONO Estadi to face home side Real Mallorca on Saturday. Barcelona is not in their great form; especially their away form in this season was inconsistent. So, the Catalan side will try to get their imperious form back when they take on Mallorca in their first league match of this year. Barcelona has experienced a heart breaking defeat to arch rival Real Madrid in the last match before the vacation started. In the same way, Mallorca is also out of form in the league and their standing in the league table goes with their performance so far this season. Mallorca now stands 10th in the league point table with 21 points from 17 matches. So, the islanders will look for something special in the home clash against Barcelona.

Though Barcelona has not been in a great form this season, they are still in the championship race with 44 points to their credit, seven points behind the league leader Real Madrid. Barcelona’s recent form is not alluring either. They have just made a 2-2 draw against Alcoyano in a Copa del Rey match. However, they could manage to get into the next round despite the poor performance.

Barcelona has lost their championship title last season to Real Madrid and they are due to fight back and get the title back. Barcelona, however, was not that much impressive this season. With a number of players undergoing poor form and facing injury, you can not say that Barcelona has spent a great season so far. Now, ahead of the match against Mallorca, Barcelona will miss the key players like Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi.

Sportinglife reported:

Ronaldinho is still suffering from a problem to his left knee that he first noticed during training last Sunday and Barcelona doctor Ricard Pruna has confirmed the Brazilian will not be available for the trip to Mallorca.

As for Lionel Messi, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury since December 15, Pruna revealed that the Argentinian is recovering well and is on course to return later this month.

It is obviously bad news for Barcelona that they are going to miss Ronaldinho in the showdown against Mallorca. Messi’s injury was known beforehand, but the injury of Ronaldinho increases the worry of Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard. The star seeded Barcelona, however, has some more players to bounce back with the existing players. Moreover, there are some good news as well. Forward Thierry Henry is expected to be available for the first team contention on Saturday. He has been out of action since November 24 with a back injury. Midfielder Edmílson has come back to action with the Copa del Rey match and his performance was satisfactory as well. So, he may get into the starting line up of Barcelona against Mallorca.

Goal.com reported:

For Edmilson is back in the side, making his first Liga squad since the May 26th encounter with Getafe. He came through the midweek Copa del Rey tie with Alcoyano well enough, and although he may not start here, he offers some midfield depth.

What's more, Thierry Henry has recovered from illness and a back injury in time to take part.

So, Barcelona has some players to fill the gap of Messi and Ronaldinho. Forward Samuel Eto'o is in good form and he is expected to play a big part against Mallorca to lead Barcelona at the ONO Estadi. Defender Gabriel Milito is now in a good form whereas Rafael Márquez and Carles Puyol are enough to restrict any team in their days.

On the other hand, Real Mallorca has got their form back with a 4-0 victory over Osasuna and got into the next round of Copa del Rey. It shows that they want to come back strongly in the league with a win against Barcelona in front of their own supporters. Manager Gregorio Manzano is full of confident now to take on Barcelona and thinks that the result is the indication of their return to form. So, it seems that Barcelona is going to face a strong challenge from Real Mallorca.

Goal.com reported:

The coach believes that this result signals a return to form and confidence for the islanders, who will now welcome Barcelona in a calm state of mind.
He told Spanish sports daily As, "That will scare Barcelona. Let us go on in this same vein."
Singled out for special praise were Juan Arango and Oscar Trejo, the latter of which is fast staking a claim to a regular first team berth.

Well, Mallorca has been on a poor form since the end of last October when they got their last win in the league. Moreover, their performance against Barcelona is not good at all with eight successive defeats in the previous meetings. Mallorca forward Dani Güiza has been in great form so far this season with eight goals under his belt. He is now in third place in the list of highest goal scorer of this season.
