Australia vs India 2nd Test 2008: Sachin Tendulkar the savior of India team

Sachin Tendulkar the super star of Indian batting constellation has made his unbeaten 38th Test century in the third day of second Test at SCG. His 154 runs inning has helped India to make 69 runs lead against Australia in the first innings.

Before the start of the second Test at SCG, Tendulkar had to suffer many problems like skin allergy. Even he had to practice in the lead-up to the test due to a facial infection.

Tendulkar said, “I had this terrible allergy on my face. If you'd seen on the 30th and 31st, you wouldn't have recognized me,” He also mentioned, “It was all over my face, I had to go to the hospital and settle it down.”

But nothing could make any obstacle in his way of making highest Test centuries record. He scored an unbeaten 154 of beating 243 deliveries to guide India’s tailenders through three late partnerships. His latest century moved him four clear of former Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar and West Indian batting great Brain Lara in test cricket. After pushing a shot past cover point for two to reach triple figure, he arched his back, raised his helmet and bat, look to sky, then embraced Harbhajan Singh in mid-pitch — all to booming cheers and applause.

Tendulkar completed his 2000 Test runs against Australia. This was Tendulkar’s eight Test century against Australia. Last when he played at SCG then he scored an unbeaten 241 that is the highest test score in his test career.

Fans of him is now floating on the air because his 38th Test century helped India team to come back in the series. Now, Tendulkar the savior of first innings can show thumb finger to Kapil Dev who raised a question about his match winning capability.
