News Updates for 14 May 2008

Kolkata Knight Riders’ player David Hussey is the leading six-hitter in IPL. He hit his 17th six during his match-winning 31 runs against Delhi Daredevils. His two sixes on Tuesday night made him leading six hitter in the inaugural IPL tournament. Adam Gilchrist is now in the second position with 16th sixes beside his name.

West Australian 24 year old left-hander Shaun Marsh has been in devastating form with his phenomenal average of 98.33 in the Twenty20 standard. He is also taking the fourth place in the list of highest run scorer with the score of 295 at a strike rate of 135.94 with 32 fours and nine sixes after Just Gautam Gambhir, Adam Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma. He has played only 5 matches.

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar made his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders against Delhi Daredevils and became the fourth bowler to bag four wickets or more in an innings in the IPL. He claimed four for 11 after bowling 3 overs. It is the best bowling average in the IPL.

Cricket fans will enjoy lot of excitement and thrill after being finished the lucrative IPL. A seven-day tri-nation series is supposed to be held from June 8, 2008. Both Pakistan and host Bangladesh will also play in this tri-nation series. India will also tour to Pakistan for Asian Cup scheduled to start on 24th June, 2008. So, Indian national team selectors are now busy to select players ahead of these tournaments and that is why they will be present at the IPL matches. Some new faces like as Ashok Dinda, Manpreet Gony, Shikhar Dhawan and Siddharth Trivedi may be seen in any of the tournament.
