Cristiano Ronaldo: Should he stay in Manchester United?

The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is the most talked topic after deciding to change club and start his new career in Real Madrid. Real Madrid are eagerly waiting to buy this star player offering him the most expensive and best paid player in the world breaking the record of Zinedine Zidane. The decision of club change is still not clear. What should he do now? Some question raises around him that if he should stay in Manchester United or if he should change his club to earn huge amount of money. Manchester United is not interested to lose him and interesting thing is that this club has refused to rule out a move to Spain. If you are fan of Cristiano Ronaldo then you can find out more than five reasons why he should stay in Manchester United or should go to Real Madrid.

This 23-year old Portuguese striker started his career for Manchester United five years ago and developed himself from a raw talented as a popular footballer. I would like to concern to say that leaving a club is always a risky decision and sometimes players could not match in a different country. There is no guarantee to play well in a new club.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo is young and experienced player. He has nice future to go ahead but one wrong decision can change everything. I think this player also show his best in different condition. Nothing can cover the sun if it rises.

The whole football world is now excited to see the final of Euro 2008. You already know the two finalist teams’ Germany and Spain who will fight for the Euro 2008 title at the Ernst Happel Stadion, Vienna. Both Germany and Spain have played well in this tournament. Both are strong enough to hold the prestigious title. Most of you are excited to know the match start time. It will kick-off 1945 BST. The sad news for Spain fans is that the most experienced and highest scorer David Villa has been pulled out because of injury. He has replaced by Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas. However, his missing in the main squad may fall the team into danger. But Spain coach Luis Aragones is confident to do well without his key striker. He has showed his superb performance in this tournament and set him in the top place after making top score with four goals. Before limbed out of the field during the match against Russia in the first-half of semi-final match, he got a hat trick against the same opponent in the group round where his team beat Russia by 4-1.

Sunderland Defeated Portsmouth in English Premier League

Sunderland projected a much-anticipated premier league victory over Portsmouth with Kieran Richardson firing twice. The club is still in the relegation zone. So, the victory came in a crucial stage of the season. Kieran Richardson opened scoring in the 33rd minutes with a pass Kenwyne Jones. Just 10 minutes later, Richardson the second for Sunderland.

Canadian Press reported:

Richardson's first goal came after a determined run by Kenwyne Jones down the left. The tall striker chased the ball with Sol Campbell, who stopped running expecting the referee to award a free kick against the Sunderland forward. Jones pulled the ball into the middle where Richardson slid it inside the far post.

The second came two minutes before halftime when the England midfielder burst past Hermann Hreidarsson in a diagonal run into the area and scored with a right-footed shot.

Sunderland is still the bottom-third team in the point table with 20 points to their credit. If they really want to improve in the league standing, then they need to continue their impressive run in the upcoming matches. Now, let us see if Sunderland can really avoid relegation this season.

Manchester United vs Newcastle United: Live Score and Live Updates

http://football-cricket.blogspot.com/2008/01/manchester-united-vs-newcastle-united_12.html

Manchester Untied is going to host an underperformed Newcastle United on Saturday in the premier league. With 48 points, Manchester United now stands second in the point table, whereas Newcastle United has been in a poor form so far this season. The Magpies are struggling with 26 points so far securing 11th place in the league standings. So, Newcastle United will find it a bit difficult at the Old Trafford against Manchester Untied. It is really something disappointing for the fans to see a side which have been underperformed throughout the season.

Manchester United is the defending champion and they are one of strongest contenders of the league. Despite some early setbacks, Manchester United could bounce back in the league and they are now performing with sheer consistency. Aside from premier league, Manchester United is still active in FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. Manager Alex Ferguson has recently revealed that he eyes on both home and away success this season.

Goal.com reported:

"We have the players and the back-up to do it. We are a more mature team this season in terms of European football and we have played some successful and entertaining stuff.

"We've lost a couple of games in the league but our consistency overall has been very good. We are with the leaders in the league and we are through to the knockout stages of the Champions League and ready for the exciting games ahead."

With a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in the third round match of FA Cup, Manchester United has made it to the fourth round this weekend. The good news for the Red Devils is that ace striker Wayne Rooney has come back in action with scoring the second goal against Aston Villa. Where the other teams are losing their key players ahead of the African Nations Cup, Manchester United now seems to be getting stronger, with no players from African in the squad. Midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo is now in his great form and currently leading the list of highest goal scorers with 13 premier league goals. Ronaldo is delighted with Rooney’s come back in the side which, to him, has made them stronger.

Goal.com reported:

"Everyone knows Wayne is a good player," said the Portuguese international.

"He does not have to do anything to prove that. He came on against Villa and did very well. He looked sharp and good - that can only benefit us. We have a strong season ahead of us, so it is important Wayne is ready along with all the other players as well."

Manchester Untied has some more news to cheer on. Defender Mikael Silvestre is also confident to come back in the squad soon terming his long rehabilitation time boring. On the other hand, Newcastle United is going through a tough time. They have recently finished a goal less draw against Stroke City. Though star forward, Michael Owen came back in the squad, he was not in his good form to start scoring. Since his move from Real Madrid, Owen has been underperformed and Newcastle United is eagerly waiting to see his impressive from in the season which will lead the side to go up in the league table.

Fansfc reported:

"We are pleased to have him back and hopefully now he will get sharper and sharper as each game goes on and score more and more goals because that's what we are looking for," he told the club's official website.
"And I hope that's the case right the way through to the end of the season."

Actually, Michael Owen could not score for Newcastle United since early October. So, Newcastle United will hope to see their star forward in an imperious form against Manchester United. Manager Sam Allardyce is now under huge pressure due to their poor form of Newcastle United. However, goalkeeper Shay Given has recently said that this is the responsibility of the players to ease the pressure mounting on their manager.

Skysports reported:

"We as players have to stand up and be counted because the only reason the manager is under pressure is that we are under-performing," Given told The Journal.

"We've got to put that right, stick together and start playing better.

Well, it is also natural that when the performance of the club is not up to the mark, manager must be under pressure. Now, Newcastle United has to cope up with this tough situation and bounce back in the premier league. Still, first of all, players need to come back in their prime form in order to lead the side to achieve some success at last.

Manchester Untied seems favorite in the match as they going to play at their home ground. However, if Newcastle United players can play according to their talent then I think, they will be able to give some scary moments to the host side and I will not surprised if Newcastle can get at least a point from the match.

Arsenal vs Birmingham City: Latest Updates

http://football-cricket.blogspot.com/2008/01/arsenal-vs-birmingham-city-latest.html

Arsenal will host Birmingham City on Saturday in the fist premiership match day after a week off. Arsenal leads the point table with 50 points to their credit, though they are within two points of defending champion Manchester Untied. Birmingham City, on the other hand, is struggling in the league with 19 points and stands 16th in the league point table. Though they are out of relegation zone at this moment, they are not out of danger either as they are within 2 points of Sunderland.

Now, the pragmatic situation for Arsenal and Birmingham City is different. Arsenal is going towards another championship title, while Birmingham needs to ensure their survival in the premier league. Arsenal can not afford any more slip up as they maintain a narrow different with Manchester Untied in the league table. So, they will be eager for victory. Birmingham City will try their best to earn at least a point from the match, which will also boost up their confidence level.

The Recent Performance of Arsenal and Birmingham City

Comparing the recent form of both the sides, Arsenal seems to be favorite in the match against Birmingham City. Arsenal won four out of last five premier league matches alongside a draw. Arsenal has projected a superb 2-0 victory against Burnley in the third round match of FA Cup this week with some key players giving rest. However, Arsenal will face Tottenham Hotspur in the first of two legged semi final of Carling Cup before then take on Birmingham City. In contrast, Birmingham City experienced two defeats, two draw and a win in their last five premier league matches. What is more, the side has got the last blow though a humiliating FA Cup third round defeat to Huddersfield Town. So, no doubt, Birmingham City will not be able to inspire themselves from their recent performances ahead of the upcoming clash with Arsenal.

Squad of Arsenal and Birmingham City

Arsenal is missing some of their key players who are out to represent their nations in the African Nations Cup. Kolo Touré, Alexandre Song and Emmanuel Eboué will not be available for Arsenal up to five weeks depending on the progress of their countries in the continental tournament of Africa. So, it will be very hard for Arsenal to cope up with the situation missing three important players at this crucial stage of premier league. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is confident to cope up with it.

Reuters reported:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he is confident of coping with the loss of his African contingent, although he is probably relieved that striker Emmanuel Adebayor's Togo failed to qualify.

"We will not go into the transfer market even though we are losing two centre backs," Wenger told the BBC, although he admitted the added loss of Song was a blow. "I only found that out yesterday so that's bad news."

Arsenal has good news as well. There is news that two forwards Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott are ready to come back with the Carling Cup match. So, it is obvious that both the forwards will be available for the match against Birmingham City.

Arsenalpies reported:

Up front, Robin van Persie is set for his comeback, while Theo Walcott is also available. Emmanuel Adebayor is apparently struggling with a hamstring injury, but Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo are both in scoring mood, so my bet would be on an RvP and Eduardo pairing, with either Walcott or Bendtner making an appearance for the Dutchman after an hour or so.

For Birmingham City, Sebastian Larsson, Mikael Forssell and Rafael Schmitz are expected to play a big role. However, if they can not play as a team against Arsenal then they will have to face some scary moments at the Arsenal home ground.

Well, it is apparent that Arsenal is likely to win the match. However, Birmingham City has a balanced side and if they can show an inspired performance then they may get at least one point from the match. However, considering the Arsenal’s form in both home and away, it is very hard to bet on Birmingham City.

Tottenham Hotspur Facing Tougher Arsenal in the Carling Cup Semi Final

Tottenham Hotspur face Arsenal in the first of two legged semi final of Carling Cup this season on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal faced each other in the Cup semi final last year with Arsenal reached the final through a 5-3 aggregate victory. So, Arsenal will be interested to project such a victory this time again. However, the task will not be so easy for Tottenham Hotspur to take the revenge over the Premier league leader Arsenal on their home soil.

Pr-inside reported:

Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane are likely to start up front for Spurs, with Jermain Defoe among the replacements again despite having scored five goals in his past seven games.
Coach Juande Ramos has told the England striker, whose contract expires at the end of next season, that he can join another club to boost his chances of a regular starting spot, but Defoe wants to stay and sign a new agreement.

Well, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane can lead Tottenham Hotspur to give Arsenal their first home defeat this season. However, even Tottenham Hotspur also know it very well that winning a match in the Arsenal home ground has become a tough one this season. Arsenal lost to Chelsea in the final of last season in the Carling Cup. So, this will try their best to win the title this season. However, before that they have to outperform their same city rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Eduardo da Silva Hopeful for Carling Cup Semi Final Clash with Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal is going to host the arch rival Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg semi final match of Carling Cup. This is the going to be the third North London Derby match as they have already met twice in premier league with Arsenal won both the matches. So, this is the best opportunity for Tottenham Hotspur to take the revenge. However, the league leaders are now in an impressive run this season and it will not be so easy for Tottenham Hotspur to stop Arsenal on their home soil.

Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva is hopeful for their success at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. Eduardo is now in his prime form with scoring six goals in his last four matches.

Goal.com reported:

"The matches are similar and both full of intensity - but the fans in the North London derby seem to be more civil to one another, while in Croatia the segregation has to be very strictly enforced,” he said.

"I think my experience in matches like this does help when we come up against the likes of Spurs, so I'm looking forward to the Carling Cup game and hoping to feature again."

Eduardo da Silva has been successful partnering with striker Nicklas Bendtner. He has admitted that he has a good understanding with Nicklas Bendtner and can help Arsenal to reach the final. Arsenal was the finalist of Carling Cup last season, where they lost to eventual champion Chelsea. Now, let us see if Arsenal can play the second successive Carling Cup final.

Chelsea to Get John Obi Mikel in the First Leg Carling Cup Semi Final against Everton

Chelsea manager Avram Grant is hopeful for the Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel ahead of the first leg match of Carling Cup semi final against Everton. With missing some of the key players like Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba for today’s match, Avram Grant must be thankful to Nigeria for allowing John Obi Mikel to play the first leg match and join up the Ghana bound national side late.

Sky Sports reported:

Grant said: "If the Nigerian players play for Everton, they will for us. It will not be one club and not the other.

"I don't think Drogba will be available for us - I think he will go to his national team."

So, it is a good news for Chelsea that John Obi Mikel is available for the final leg showdown against Everton. Everton is also missing their inform midfielder Steven Pienaar as he has been called up to join the South African national side before the Carling Cup semi final. Now, let us see if John Obi Mikel can make a difference in today’s crucial match against Everton.

Chelsea and Everton Missing Some of their Key African Stars

Everton is going to meet Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge today in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi final. Both the teams are strong enough to make it to the final and this is what seems to be alluring for the football fans to enjoy the match. Everton and Chelsea met each other in the cup back in 2005-2006 season where Chelsea reached the final with 5-2 aggregate.

Now, ahead of the today’s match, both teams are missing some of their key players, who are out to take part in the upcoming African Nations Cup. However, Chelsea will have John Obi Mikel for the first leg encounter as Nigeria allowed him on late departure, whereas Everton also got good news from Nigeria as they are getting Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Joseph Yobo for today’s match. Chelsea will miss the key players like Michael Essien and Didier Drogba as they are due to join up their Ghana bound national side.

Goal.com reported:

A big blow is that Stephen Pienaar won't be available due to his being called up by the South African national side. He's played a big part in the recent surge in the Goodison Park squad's form. Very quick feet and excellent movement in the build ups he's involved in, make for a key element that you really don't want to have to replace at this stage. With Arteta suspended and Osman out injured Moyes will be looking for Cahill to be 110%, despite the knock he's been carrying. Yobo and Yakubu will play in this 1st leg, as their national side (Nigeria) allowed them to stay on, but all African players will be away for the 2nd Leg on Jan 23rd, so you'd think Moyes will be wanting to really make a move here.

So, it is obvious that both teams will miss their African stars for the second leg match on 23 January and that is why, they will try their best to capitalize on today’s match. So, even if you are not fan of either Chelsea or Everton, it is very logical to enjoy the match hoping to see an exciting one today at the Stamford Bridge stadium.

Manchester Untied Experienced a Record Turnover

Manchester Untied has seen an increased gross turnover in the last financial year ended in June 30, 2007. With a record turnover of 245 million pounds, Manchester United had a successful financial year as well. Manchester Untied has become the champion of English Premier League 2006-2007 champion. They are still in the championship race with 48 points from 21 games standing 2nd in the league point table. So, there is no doubt, Manchester United had a successful last season. Financial Times has recently said that Manchester United has experienced a 21 percent increase in its gross turnover last season.

AFP reported:

Everton vs Chelsea Live Score and Live Updates

http://techblogbiz.blogspot.com/2008/01/everton-vs-chelsea-live-score-and-live.html
After the hard-won 1-0 victory over Championship club Queens Park Rangers in a third round tie of FA Cup, Chelsea is now due to give their focus on the upcoming Carling Cup semi final showdown against Everton. Everton, on the other hand, has just been kicked out from the FA Cup after suffering a humiliating 0-1 defeat to Oldham Athletic in the third round. However, the Toffees have no time to think about the defeat as they travel to Stamford Bridge on 8 January 2008.

Chelsea is the defending champion of Carling Cup and they are very closer to defend their title this season. Chelsea is not in their great form and not all of their players played expectedly. Though they dominated throughout the match, Chelsea won against Queens Park Rangers by an own goal of the opposition goalkeeper. The West London club is not in their dominant form in the premier league as well. Chelsea stands 3rd in the league point table with six points behind the league leader Arsenal.

Everton, in contrast, has been impressive in premier league so far being in the 6th place with 36 points. The club has suffered only three defeats in 21 matches. They are now breathing on fourth placed Manchester City and fifth placed Liverpool, who are still within three points of Everton. So, Everton is now in the race for the fifth place to ensure their UEFA Cup place next season.

Well, following Everton’s shocking defeat in FA Cup, manager David Moyes has been criticized for the team selection and he now seems to be under pressure ahead of the tie with Chelsea on Tuesday. However, David Moyes defended himself saying the team put out was enough to win the match.

BBC reported:

"It wasn't a vastly weakened team at all," he said after the 1-0 loss at Goodison Park. "I felt it was strong.

"I would have expected the team I put out to have been good enough to win."

"They are all disappointed, we all are. These things happen, unfortunately it has happened to us a few times," said Moyes.

"We have a very good squad, we picked a side who have all played at the top level, they have all played in Europe this season.

However, Chelsea manager Avram Grant has said that they are now taking Everton lightly. Rather, he thinks that the semi final match will not be an easy one to play but, he is hopeful they will be in the final.

BBC reported:

Chelsea manager Avram Grant believes his team face a tough task to reach the final.

"Everton are very good this year," he added. "It's not easy to play against them but it's two games so anything can happen and I hope we will be in the final."

If you are asked to find out a point which both Chelsea and Everton are considering significantly ahead of the match then, for sure, you will think that both teams are thinking of winning the match. Well, you are right, but you have missed out another one. Both the premier league sides will miss some of their key African players as the players head off to their countries to take part in the upcoming African Nations Cup.

To begin with, Everton will miss their midfielder Steven Pienaar as he was asked to join Ghana-bound South African squad before the Carling Cup semi final. He is one of the main strength in the midfield of Everton. So, the news of his absence has left Everton to consider their midfield line up ahead of the match against Chelsea.

Reuters reported:

Pienaar had hoped to join up with the South African squad after the cup tie but coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has insisted all player report by Tuesday for the start of the Nations Cup build-up.

However, the good news for Everton is that defender Joseph Yobo and forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni have got the permission from Nigeria to play the cup final against Chelsea. There is good news for Chelsea as well. They will get their Nigerian striker John Obi Mikel for the clash against Everton. So, both teams can be thankful to Nigeria in this regard.

IC Network reported:

EVERTON received a huge cup boost today when Nigeria agreed to delay the departure of Yakubu and Joseph Yobo until after next week's Carling Cup semi-final first leg.

Chelsea have also been given permission for John Obi Mikel to postpone reporting for African Nations Cup duty.

However, Chelsea is going to lose most for the African Nations Cup. Ahead of the crucial semi final match against Everton, they will miss some of their key players like Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien, who have played a big role behind every success of Chelsea this season.

Sportinglife reported:

Chelsea are hoping Mikel John Obi will be available to play against Everton in the Carling Cup after the Nigerian Football Association gave Ayegbeni Yakubu and Joseph Yobo permission to remain with the Merseysiders.

The Londoners eased into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and are scheduled to lose Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien and Mikel to the African Nations Cup.

It is true that the players leaving are key players for both Chelsea and Everton and depending on the progress of the teams, the clubs will miss them for up to five week. This will definitely create a big gape in both the sides. However, it is also true that they have some talented young players who can not make it to the starting line up regularly. So, those players will try their best to perform regularly and prove their worth. It will inspire them to play their best to ensure a place in the starting line up regularly.

Everton vs Chelsea Live Score and Live Updates

http://techblogbiz.blogspot.com/2008/01/everton-vs-chelsea-live-score-and-live.html

Premiership leader Arsenal is going to face their arch rival Tottenham Hotspur in the semi final match of the Carling Cup on Wednesday. This is the first leg match and Arsenal will have the home advantage as the match will be held at the Emirates Stadium. However, it will not be a problem for same city club Tottenham Hotspur Arsenal has been in their prime form this season whereas Tottenham Hotspur is struggling in the premier league.

Arsenal now leads the league point table with 50 points and they have lost only one match so far this season. So, they are now in the title race. However, the situation is different for Tottenham Hotspur. With 24 points, the club now stands 12th in the league point table. Though the club has some quality players, Tottenham Hotsput is going though a tough time in the league.

Moreover, Tottenham Hotspur has lost to their same city rivals Arsenal in both home and away matches this season. Surprisingly, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur faced each other in the semi final of Carling Cup last season as well. However, Tottenham Hotspur could not progress in the final being defeated to Arsenal, who lost to the eventual champion Chelsea in the final. Tottenham Hotspur defender Pascal Chimbonda has said that they will have learnt from their mistake and he thinks that this will be different this time. He eyes to defeat Arsenal at the Emirates stadium to become the first team to win at the Arsenal home ground this season.

Carlingcup reported:

Arsenal knocked Tottenham out of the semi-finals last year and defender Pascal Chimbonda says the Spurs players will be gunning for revenge.

"It hurt us a lot to lose to them last season," he said. "We were winning 2-0 at home in the first leg and they got it back to 2-2 and we ended up losing the second leg.

"But we have learned from what happened and it will be different this time. We can win the trophy this season. We can achieve anything when we perform like we did against Manchester City.

"We would love to be the first team to beat Arsenal at the Emirates this season."

You have to put Arsenal ahead of Tottenham Hotspur considering their recent form as well. Arsenal won four out of last five premiership matches alongside a draw, whereas Tottenham Hotspur won three matches and lost the other two matches. The main problem of Tottenham Hotspur has been in their defense. They have conceded 38 goals in the premier league this season which is only second to Reading’s 44 conceding goals.

Arsenal has defeated Blackburn Rovers 3-2 in the quarter final and Tottenham Hotspur has projected a 2-0 victory over Manchester City to make it to the semi final. However, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have FA Cup match before they face each other in the semi final match of the Carling Cup. Arsenal will play against Burnley, while Tottenham Hotspur will face Reading in their upcoming matches of FA Cup.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has indicated that he will rest William Gallas and Gael Clichy for the clash with Burnley on Sunday. So, it is expected that both of them will play against Tottenham Hotspur. Though Jens Lehmann will keep the goal bar against Burnley, he is not yet confirmed to make it to the starting line up against Tottenham Hotspur. However, the major concern of Arsenal for the Carling Cup match will be three of their African stars who are expected to catch the flight to their countries in order to take part in the African Nations Cup, starting from January 20. The players are Kolo Touré, Emmanuel Eboué and Alexandre Song. So, it is a big question if Arsenal can fill the gap of these key players. What is more, forward Robin van Persie will also miss the match against Tottenham Hotspur as he has not been fit enough to come back this week. So, it is clear that Arsenal will not have their full strength against Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur has two forwards in the list of highest goal scorer in premiership. Irish Robbie Keane and Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov have 10 and 8 premier league goals respectively so far this season. It is really very frustrating that Tottenham Hotspur is now in the 12th position in the league point table. I have mentioned earlier that their defense has been fragile this season and thus they have missed many points in the competition. Captain Ledley King is the one of the main strength of Totenham defense. So, he needs to come up with some impressive performances against Arsenal in the semi final match of Carling Cup.

So, the mere statistics have less impact on a Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur match. So, I hope to see a classic semi final between the two arch rivals in Carling Cup.

Liverpool Rejects Luton to Donate the Gate Money of the Third Round FA Cup Match

Liverpool is going to play Luton Town in the third round match in FA Cup. Luton club is now going through a financial constraint and they have asked for help from Liverpool to donate its gate money to be earned from the match. However, Liverpool has turned the offer down. Luton players have not been paid fully in the last nine weeks as the league one club is undergoing a financial problem. That is why, Luton wanted Liverpool to donate a handsome amount for the club.

Times Online reported:

Luton are losing about £400,000 a month and went into administration in November. Their players have been paid only 2½ weeks’ wages in the past nine weeks. The club’s joint-administrator, Brendan Guilfoyle, asked the Barclays Premier League club if they were willing to forgo a share of the revenue from the tie, but was rebuffed.

“They probably said, ‘We have to pay players £100,000 a week. You must be joking, otherwise we will be like you,’ ” Kevin Blackwell, the Luton manager, said. “You just have to accept it. There are people in life who have got a Rolls-Royce while some people have a Mini. We are Mini drivers.”

Luton Town manager Kevin Blackwell is also donating his wages for the club. From the television broadcasting of the upcoming match, both Liverpool and Luton will get £150,000 each. Moreover, an additional £100,000 will also go to the accounts of both clubs. So, if Liverpool agreed to donate then Luton could get £ 250,000 from this match.

Well, this is not the responsibility of Liverpool to solve the financial problem of Luton Town. Rather, it is the responsibility of management of the club. However, they can ask the major premier league clubs to play a few friendly matches and make some cash in. The major premier league clubs can also help Luton Town out in this way. However, it may not possible for a club to donate the money earned from a match totally as they have lots of expenditure as well. Now, let us hope Luton will come out from their financial problem very soon.

David Beckham Eyes to 100th Cap for England

With the hope of playing 100th match for England, David Beckham has started practicing with Arsenal. England will play a friendly against Switzerland next month. This is going to be the first assignment of new coach Fabio Capello with England. Former skipper of England, David Beckham now plays for Los Angeles Galaxy in the U.S.

Beckham earlier asked Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for permission to allow him practice with Arsenal. London-based club Arsenal headquarters is near from his Hertfordshire residence. So, it has been much easier for David Beckham to continue practicing with a quality team. Arsene Wenger has also given him the permission.

Sportsnetwork reported:

"He wants to be fit when he's moving to L.A. in February so, in January, we give him assistance to work on his fitness," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told the Associated Press.

David Beckham moved to Los Angeles Galaxy from Real Madrid last season. However, his performance with the U.S. club has not been so impressive in the first season. Nevertheless, David Beckham has been impressive with England national team. I think, he should be included in the starting line up in the match against Switzerland.

Robin van Persie to be Back Soon, Says Arsene Wenger

Robin van Persie is expected to come back in action after Premier League match resumes on 12th January. Arsenal has match against Birmingham City that day. So, he may come back with this match. The Dutch forward has been suffering from injury for the last three months. Though he played one match in December as substitute, he immediately was sidelined and now all are expecting his cure. Manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he will not be able to be back with the match against Burnley as he is still injured.

Goal.com reported:

Talking ahead of the Burnley Cup-tie, Wenger told the Arsenal website: "Robin van Persie is still injured and will not be involved.

"But it is very short for him now. The next deadline could be Birmingham or just after."

Arsenal is going to lose some key players like Kolo Touré, Alexandre Song and Emmanuel Eboué as they are going to leave the club to take part in the African Nations Cup this month. So, the come-back of Robin van Persie is very important for Arsenal.

Burnley vs Arsenal FA Cup Preview

Burnley vs Arsenal third round match of FA Cup is now the main attraction to the fans of both sides. They are going to face each other in a crucial match of the FA Cup match. The winner will get the ticket of the next round. The match will be held at the home ground of Burnley on 6 January. It is true that Arsenal is favorite for this match. However, Burnley has the reputation as a giant killer. In 2005, they defeated Liverpool in the third round of FA Cup to progress to the next round.

BBC reported:
Burnley are looking for a repeat of their third round feat on 18 January 2005 when they claimed a "big four" scalp. An under strength Liverpool were knocked out 1-0, through a Djimi Traore own goal.
You have to go back to pre-Wenger days to find when Arsenal were last knocked out by lower league opposition; second level Sheffield United dismissed Bruce Rioch's side 1-0 in a third round replay at Bramall Lane on 17 January 1996.
This is one of eight Premier League against Championship ties in the third round.

Burnley has lost four out of their last six matches which indicates their poor form. In contrast, Arsenal now leads the league point table with 50 points. Arsenal has won FA Cup 10 times in the past and only Manchester Untied has claimed the title more than more than 10 times. Burnley has won FA Cup once in the history in 1913-1914 season.

Wenger will feature Jens Lehmann in the match whereas William Gallas and Gael Clichy will be rested for this match. Emmanuel Adebayor is suffering from hamstring injury and Robin van Persie has not got back his match fitness yet. For Burnley, Clarke Carlisle will miss the clash with Arsenal and Alan Mahon is also doubtful for the match. However, Joey Gudjonsson and John Spicer will be available for the match against Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger Says, Liverpool Still in the Championship Race

With Lvierpool’s shocking draw against Wigan Athletic came as another setback for the side. They are now 13 points clear of league leader Arsenal. So, it seems that they are on their way out of the championship race. Many have already written off Liverpool having any chance left to win the title.

Well, they may have their personal opinion. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger, however, is reluctant to say that Liverpool is out of the race. With half the season left yet, Wenger has said that Liverpool is still in the championship race. However, he has also admitted that Liverpool can not have any blips anymore. So, it seems that Arsenal boss is careful about the fifth placed Liverpool.

Premier League reported:
"I wouldn't say it is completely (a three-horse race). I still feel Liverpool are in the race but they cannot have any blips anymore.
"They are still a dangerous team. The disadvantage for them is that there are three teams in front of them (Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea) who might not drop many points.
"I still don't dismiss them at this stage. It happened to us in 1997-98 and we made the ground up."

Actually, I also think the same about Liverpool. The winner of the Champions League 2005 has a talented side that has some quality players who can come back anytime this season. What is the problem for Liverpool is that they are very inconsistent in the league. When they are in their form they roar past the opposition teams projecting some big wins. However, they get down right after that match. So, if they want to come back, they can not afford any more slip up and should bounce back from the next match.
