Sri Lanka vs India 1st Test 2008: Ajantha Mendis will make his Test debut

Sri Lanka vs India 1st Test is going to be held on 23rd July, 2008. This closely contested match will take place Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo. Both Sri Lanka and India teams are busy with taking their last minute preparation. Sri Lanka’s new bowling sensation Ajantha Mendis is set to make his debut in Test cricket. Sri Lanka’s selectors announced his name as a second specialist spinner along with veteran Muttiah Muralitharan in a 14-member squad. This mystery bowler has already shown his capability of doing variety of deliveries. This young and inexperienced bowler has become the big threat to India team. The 23-year old bowler made his ODI debut in 2008 against West Indies and played only 8 matches where he claimed 20 wickets. He has impressive record in first-class cricket. He is now in good form. With the presence of bowling legend Muttiah Muralitharan Indian players are busy with Ajantha Mendis and finding the way how they can protest him. No doubt, Mendis is flying on the high. Everything seems to him like a dream. It is sure that this bowler should try his best to make his debut match memorable.
