Sri Lanka vs India 1st Test 2008: Squad of Sri Lanka team

The first match of three-match Test series will start from 23rd July, 2008. Both the host Sri Lanka and tourist India will face each other at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo. This match is scheduled at 10:15 local time (04:45 GMT). Fans of both teams are expected to see a rival match as both teams have some quality players. It is very important series for both Sri Lanka and India team. Ahead of the Test series, Sri Lanka’s selectors have announced the 14-member strong squad for the first two Tests against India.

The mystery bowler Ajantha Mendis will make his Test debut with the series. Player setting is depending on the pitch. The swing and seam is the main weapon is SSC venue. So, selectors should decide to use pacers. Experienced pace bowlers Farveez Maharoof, Lasith Malinga and Dilhara Fernando are facing injury. So, selectors should focus more on spin attack. The all time great Sri Lankan player Muttiah Muralitharan led Mendis. However, either Nuwan Kulasekera or Thilan Thushara will share the new ball with old horse Chaminda Vaas.
