Sri Lanka vs India 1st Test 2008: Muttiah Muralitharan was chosen for “Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year award”

Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is a good bowler and is now in good form. His tough bowling action has become the threat of India team in the ongoing three-match Test series. He is the highest wicket taker in Test cricket. This veteran player has already collapsed 735 wickets in 120 Test matches at an average of over six wickets per Test that make him one of the most successful bowlers in the game and the greatest player in Sri Lanka’s history. He is eyeing to haul 1000 wickets in Test cricket. The good news for Sri Lanka cricket fans is that Muttiah Muralitharan is taking the top position in the ICC Test bowling rank. Recently, he was chosen for Sri Lanka’s ‘Most outstanding Sportsman of the Year award’ that boosts him to play well against India in the home series. Sri Lanka vs India 1st Test match will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo. Muralitharan is always destructive in home ground. He is also most experienced bowler in his team. So, Indian top batsmen will be busy to protect him.
Now, you may ask about new bowling sensation Ajantha Mendis who has already caught the attention of the whole cricket world showing his variety of deliveries. He was the hero of Asia Cup 2008 final match. He caught 6 wickets for 13 and holds both the “Man of the match” and “Man of the series” title. The interesting news is that first time Indian team giving more priority about spin attack for his mystery bowler. Ajantha Mendis will be in action lead by Muralitharan.
