India is in Sri Lanka: Can Sachin Tendulkar break the record of Brian Lara in Sri Lanka tour?

India is in Sri Lanka to play a Three-match Test series against host team Sri Lanka. This match is scheduled to start from July 18, 2008 with the practice match before the 1st Test match going to be held against the home team. It should be expected to see a fight between destructive bowling line up versus strong batting line up. Indian top order batsmen will face Sri Lankan spin duo Muttiah Muralitharan and mystery bowler Ajantha Mendis who can bowl variety of deliveries in an over. But Indian little mater Sachin Tendulkar is now under spotlight. He is poised to achieve his historical landmark. The 35-year old Sachin Tendulkar has scored 11,782 runs in 147 Test matches where he made 39 centuries and 49 half-centuries averaging 55.31. Now, he needs just 172 runs to overhaul retired Brian Lara’s record of 11,953 runs in Test. It could be happened early if he did not pull out from the midway through the series against touring South Africa earlier this year because of groin injury. However, this veteran player started his Test career in 1989 against Pakistan and still continuing it. The good news is that Sachin Tendulkar remains the highest-ranked Indian batsman to join 13th spot in the latest ICC ranking along with English right-hand batsman Ian Bell.

Sachin Tendulkar vs Brian Lara is a very common debatable topic. The whole cricket world is divided into two teams when the arguable question rise that is “Who is best?” In my point of view I can say that no one is less talented than others. Both are great and should be stay top position.
However, dear fans there is still one that is Sachin can break the record in this Test series.
