India in Sri Lanka 2008: Can Indian batsmen beat Ajantha Mendis?

Recently, India will tour to Sri Lanka to play a three-match Test series against host team Sri Lanka later this month. Sri Lanka’s new bowling sensation Ajantha Mendis has become the threat of Indian team that no one great bowler did it in the past. Ahead of the Test series, Indian top batsmen are busy to do some home work to protest this bowler who can bowls variety of deliveries, mixture of off-breaks, top spins, flippers and googlies. Ajantha Mendis haul 17 wickets and became ‘man of the series’ at the Asia Cup. According to the Indian ODI captain MS Dhoni, the spinner was the different in the final. He scythed Indian batting line up with taking 6 for 13. It makes me more interesting to know that Indian players are more serious about Mendis than Muttiah Muralitharan who is the highest wicket taker in Test cricket. I have never seen Indian batsmen to give more priority about spinners like Shane Warne and Muralitharan. Now, it is time for the veteran players like Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar who will face Ajantha Mendis bravely. However, Test captain Anil Kumble is confident enough to beat mystery bowler Mendis and keep on dominance in the match. Let us see who will win in this race.
