Asia Cup Cricket 2008: Geoff Lawson has apologised to the media

Pakistan cricket team is going to face their arch-rival opponent India tomorrow on 2nd July. This rival match will take place at the National Stadium, Karachi. The whole cricket world is now excited to see this exciting and nail biting match. Now, one common and most asked question is roaming all over the world not only to the fans that is who win the match. You can jump into the conclusion from different point of view but it is really difficult to predict the match result. However, Pakistan team is under pressure after losing to Sri Lanka in their first match of Super Four round that push them on the brink of elimination from Asia Cup. Pakistan’s coach Geoff Lawson has apologised to the media for his unpleasant remarks after Sunday’s Asia Cup defeat by Sri Lanka in Karachi. It is heard that Lawson laid down a few rules for the reporters before fielding questions. This led to a heated exchange with some journalists who accused him of trying to dictate to the media and a walkout. They wore black armbands and protested for 15 minute outside the National Stadium in the break between the innings of Sri Lanka-Bangladesh match.

Cricinfo.com reported:

Lawson apologised through a statement issued by the PCB. "I would like to clarify that the incident that took place at the press conference after the Pakistan and Sri Lanka match is most unfortunate," he said. "What happened was regrettable and I would like to apologise for the events that led to the incident.

However, the journalists who attended in the conference refused to accept the apology. They demanded an apology from Lawson in person. It should be a hard clash between journalists and Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Coach Geoff Lawson. Let us see what will happen next. What is waiting for Lawson’s fate?
