Ajantha Mendis is not a familiar name in the international cricket. He showed his talent against West Indies in the Caribbean island earlier this year on 10th April. Recently, this 23 year old Sri Lankan new right-arm slow-medium spin sensation has come under limelight after signing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing lucrative Indian Premier League. He has been signed on a three-year contract and is expected to make regular appearances during the 2009-2010 season. Mendis was a prolific wicket-taker for Sri Lanka Army in the 2007-2008 season and taken 46 wickets at an average of 10.56 from six matches.
