Patrick Willis Named 2007 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

Patrick Willis has been voted 2007 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. The San Francisco 49ers linebacker has showed his talent in his first season with highest 174 tackles. Patrick Willis was the 11th selection for 2007 NFL season. Though San Francisco 49ers could not make it to the top six in the season and finished third in the NFC West division, Patrick Willis has been impressive throughout the regular season.

Bloomberg reported:

Willis received 48 votes from a 50-member media panel, the news agency said. Carolina linebacker Jon Beason got two votes.

He was the 11th overall selection in the 2007 National Football League draft from the University of Mississippi and finished the season with a league-leading 174 tackles. Willis had 11 tackles in the season opener and 10 tackles in 10 other games.

I think, Patrick Willis has a lot of success ahead of him. If he can hold his form then he has the ability and skill to become another great linebacker. This is the fifth time a linebacker has received this award in a row.
