Cricket News Round Up for 1 January 2008

The second test of Australia vs India test series kicks off on 2 January at the Sydney Cricket Ground with Australia leading the series 1-0. The SCG pitch is expected to be helpful for the spinner. Former Australian great, Ian Chappell said that Virender Sehwag should be brought in the first eleven of the second test at SCG. Ricky Ponting faced enough problems against Harbhajan Singh in the past. Now, the question is if Ricky Ponting can survive against him at SCG.

Pakistan Cricket Board is still confident to organize Australia’s upcoming tour to Pakistan despite security concerns. Mathew Sinclair has been called up ahead of the test series against Bangladesh. Shane Bond is likely to join ICL whereas BCCI is still pressurizing to ban the cricketers who played in the ICL Twenty20 championship.

There is news out that Gujarati is preparing pitches for cricket to be used in the U.S. Arjuna Ranatunga is likely to take over the chair of Sri Lanka Cricket as Jayantha Dharmadasa has resigned from the post recently.
