Chelsea manager Avram Grant is hopeful for the Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel ahead of the first leg match of Carling Cup semi final against Everton. With missing some of the key players like Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba for today’s match, Avram Grant must be thankful to Nigeria for allowing John Obi Mikel to play the first leg match and join up the Ghana bound national side late.

Grant said: "If the Nigerian players play for Everton, they will for us. It will not be one club and not the other.
"I don't think Drogba will be available for us - I think he will go to his national team."
So, it is a good news for Chelsea that John Obi Mikel is available for the final leg showdown against Everton. Everton is also missing their inform midfielder Steven Pienaar as he has been called up to join the South African national side before the Carling Cup semi final.
