Australia vs India 3rd Test: Indian pace attack raise hope of getting Test win

Host Australia team is seeking their 17th consecutive Test win in Perth in their third Test. But after a dramatic day when 15 wickets fall, 10 of them Australian, India can dare to dream of victory and again hope to stop Ricky Ponting’s Australia team that they did in 2001 in Kolkata. Australia has never lost any Test since Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh and Ian Bishop ran through them in 1997.

After claiming the wicket of danger man Andrew Symonds, he has become the third bowler to reach the 600 mark. However, it was the day of recalled Irfan Pathan who claimed the top orders and fall mighty Australia in a danger as the host team lost 3 top wickets early.

Andrew Symonds and Adam Gilchrist made a 102 runs partnership in sixth wicket but it was not helpful for Australia team as India’s pace trio ripped the top order apart to take control on the third test.

This pair saw a dream to come back in the innings dragging the home side from a woeful 61 for 5 to 148 for five at tea.

However, skipper Anil Kumble break threw the pair taking the wicket of Andrew Symonds of 66. Then last four wickets could manage only 40 runs and set Australia 212 all out, trailing 118 runs in the first innings.

After dismissing Australia team, India scored 52 for 1 in their second innings losing the wicket of Wasim Jaffer. Indian destructive batsman Virender Sehwag was not out 29 along with Irfan Pathan who is unbeaten 2 at stumps.

When right-hand all rounder Symonds scored only three runs then he was dropped a catch at slip by Sachin Tendulkar.

Irfan Pathan dismissed openers Phil Jaques and Chris Rogers in the space of three balls in the fourth over to leave Australia on 13 for two wickets.

RP Singh was the out form bowler taking four wickets for 68 with the important wicket of Michael Hussey and Adam Gilchrist.

Kumble finished his day taking second and 601st wicket after claiming tail ender Shaun Tait by caught and bowled.

Each of the bowlers (Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble and Ishant Sharma) got three wickets each.
