Indian right-hand middle order batsman VVS Laxman scored his fifty Test century and the third in SCG against Australia that has helped India to fight back in the second Test.
He scored 109 runs off facing 142 balls including 18 boundaries.
In an interview, he said that he always enjoyed playing against them. 33 year old claimed his 12th Test century at Sydney against his most chosen opponent team Australia.
It was his third test century in four Test innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground against Australia. His first Test century in the same ground came in 2000 when he scored 167 in which match India lost and a memorable 178 in 2004 before four year in which match India made draw.
He put on 175 runs for the second wicket along with Rahul Dravid after India lost Wasim Jaffer with only eight on the board. Mitchell Johnson break threw the partnership taking the wicket of Rahul Dravid. He fell six balls after Dravid’s demise caught at short cover off spinner Brad Hogg’s bowling half an hour before stumps.
Now, Laxman shocked left two fresh batsmen at the wicket. Laxman got one easy life. When he was 77 then Adam Gilchrist dropped his catch.
His highest test score of 281 at Kolkata helped India to stop Steve Waugh’s world record of 16 consecutive match win.
So, fan of Indian team can again hope to get Test win against Australia in their home ground.
