ACT Invitational XI vs India 2nd Warm-up match: Match report of the first day

ACT Invitational XI vs Indian 1st day of the three days warm-up match has finished few hours ago where Indians declared their innings at 325 runs losing top nine wicket with a couple of half-centuries in Canberra. Except Wasim Jaffer and Rahul Dravid no one could play any impressive innings against an attack that was club standard.

Indian most sensational batsman MS Dhoni, who led his team in this math, elected to bat first after winning the toss.

Indian opening batsman Wasim Jaffer, who scored 22 in the fourth innings, was the leading run scorer and also highest runs scorer in India team. He scored 92 runs off facing 191 balls. He reached his fifty with a six, an upper-cut over point off seamer Richard Sherlock, which was his second over boundary and highest sixes in this match. ACT XI skipper Mark Higgs uprooted Jaffer’s middle stump just before the tea.

Indians will worry about three batsmen Virender Sehwag, Dinesh Karthik and Yuvraj Singh who squandered this chance. Virender Sehwag struggled before falling to a sensational catch. Yuvraj Singh again failed to prove his talent in this match. Dinesh Karthik was likely come back but could not continue it for long time.

India lost their first wicket of Virender Sehwag in 21st over. Virender Sehwag, who scored just 24 runs, was caught as second slip by skipper Mark Higgs off Swards in 20.1 over while Karthik pulled Swards to mid-on where Perera took an easy catch.

Viru (Virender Sehwag) once again missed his great opportunity to force his entry into the main squad of India team as he compiled 24 runs playing 49 balls.

Another big score came to the bat of Rahul Dravid who scored crucial 62 runs in 91 balls. Skipper MS Dhoni and Irfan Pathan played some impressive performance in their place. Both scored 38 and 33.

Luke Swards got important three wickets for 45. Both Ash Perera and Adam Richard set India claiming two wickets each.

ACT XI opener already started their job at the end of the first day. ACT XI scored 10 without losing any wickets with Chris Rogers was not out 2 along with Ed Cowan stump at 8.

Both Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma bowled two overs each today.
