India vs Australia Test series 2008: A memorable Test series

The four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia will be remembered for many reasons. The most important reason is that the retirement of two veteran players. They are: Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble. Fans of cricket game can not see these two batting great.

Before the start of the four-match Test series, veteran Sourav Ganguly had announced his retirement from Test cricket. This will be the last test series for him. He will play the fourth test match against Australia at Nagpur which will be his last match in his career. This match is scheduled to start from 6th November, 2008. After this series, Sourav Ganguly will not be appeared in test cricket.

Another veteran cricketer Anil Kumble took his retirement decision during the third test after falling finger injury. He announced his retirement minute after tea break of the last day which was called draw. He finished his test match with draw that put host India team to lead the series 1-0.

With this series, Sachin Tendulkar has become the highest run holder overtaking the world record of West Indian Brian Lara. V.V.S Laxman will write his name in the 100-test club.
