India vs Pakistan tri-nation final ODI match 2008: India bagged the tri-series title beating India by 25 runs

The most exciting and much viewing India vs Pakistan tri-series finished tonight where Pakistan team beat the old foe by 25 runs and lift the cricket tri-series title. A road on a 205-run second wicket partnership between Salman Butt and Younis Khan helped to make a run-mountain against India team. They could amass 315 for three in their allotted overs.

It was for Pakistan twin tons Salman Butt and Younis Khan who both got century in this match. Salman Butt showed his aggressive play before returning back to the gallery falling into injury whereas Younis Khan scored 108 before falling into trap by Ishant Sharma. MS Dhoni used as many as eight bowlers including Suresh Raina. Irfan Pathan claimed the two important wickets of Kamran Akmal caught by skipper Dhoni behind the wicket and danger man Younis Khan making a victim of catch by Virender Sehwag.

Indian top order batting line up disappointed their fans. Sehwag got out by Sohail Tanvir in the fifith ball of his first over. However, Gambhir tried his best to make protest but failed to stay long time and returned back to the gallery after scoring 40 runs. Yuvraj and Dhoni pair showed the hope of winning the title in the fifth wicket partnership. Both these batting sensation scored half-centuries and tried to come back in the competition. But it was Shahid Afridi who pulled them out and finished the match as a match winner.

With the win of the tri-nation title series, Pakistan cricket team also took their sweet revenge for their biggest defeat against India by 140 runs. It is almost 10 years old where Azharuddin’s India beat Wasim Akram’s Pakistan.
