Bangladesh vs UAE Asia Cup cricket 2008: Can UAE beat Bangladesh?

Tomorrow on 24th June the opening match between Bangladesh and UAE in the 9th edition of Asia Cup 2008 cricket will be held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Pakistani origin UAE captain, Saqib Ali, hope to beat Bangladesh in the opening match. The strong side of UAE team is their spin bowling along with strength batting. The UAE coach, Vesbert Drakes, hoped that his team would play well against Bangladesh and beat them. On the other hand, Bangladesh team also aims to beat UAE and qualify for second round against this weak opponent from Group-A and play against the top teams. Nothing is impossible for Bangladesh on their day.

THE POST reported:

Addressing a pre-event press conference here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, Bangladesh cricket team captain Ashraful said that they have been playing well and have young but talented payers who could perform their best against any side of the world on a good day. He continued that they have played well in the recent past and hoped that it would be a good competition for them. “We have good combination and can beat any side if we can play well on a given day,” he added. He said that Bangladesh scored good runs against Pakistan in the recently-concluded tri-series and said that they would play their best game in the Asia Cup. Talking about his individual performance, Ashraful said that he had scored good runs in the tri-series while he would try to play even better in the upcoming matches and help his team to win.

UAE is an easiest opponent for Bangladesh team to qualify for second round. But they have to remember that it is cricket game anything can happen here. However, UAE also want to recapture their past glory after beating Bangladesh again. It should be a hard conflict between these two teams. It is really tough to say who will win as Bangladesh could not do any good performance in their recent past matches.
