The 36 year old wicketkeeper cum aggressive batsman Adam Gilchrist, who is four matches short of his 100th Test, has announced his retirement from international cricket.

Australia vs India 4th test is the last test for his cricket career as he said that he would take retire from Tests at the end of the current match. However, this record braking wicketkeeper will continue playing his one-day internationals until the end of upcoming tri-series with Sri Lanka and India.

Adam Gilchrist has broken the world record of highest Test dismissals as a wicketkeeper with taking 414 in 96th Test at an incredible 2.178 scalps per innings overtaking South African Mark Boucher. Mark Boucher, South African wicketkeeper, has played in 109 Tests.

He broke the record of Ian Healy’s highest Test dismissals record, third on the list with 395 dismissals from 119 Tests, in the Australia vs India Test series where he appeared with pink color gloves to raise awareness of breast cancer.

However, Adam Gilchrist made his debut in Test against Pakistan at Brisbane in 1999. With the bat he has scored 5556 at an average of 47.89 with a highest score of 204 not out. He compiled 17 Test centuries.
