Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has caught the light in the third and last day of the second warm-up match against ACT Invitational XI at Canberra showing his impressive performance in the second innings. Now, he is seeking a place in the Indian national team.
Virender Sehwag, who left out from national team for poor form, now hoping to get selection in the third Test at WACA ground in Perth. He compiled 113 from just 78 balls against ACT Invitational XI in Canberra. He smashed 18 boundaries and 2 sixes in India’s 281 for 4 on the last day of the drawn tour match. He crossed the half-century mark in 38 balls. He also made a 158 runs partnership in opening pair.
Now, the third Test will start from 16th January at WACA ground, Perth. WACA ground is different than others for pace and extra bounce in the pitch.
"I have played a couple of one-day games in Perth and done well," Sehwag said when asked of the challenge of playing on arguably the bounciest pitch in the world.
Virender Sehwag has not played a Test in 12 months. He played his last Test at Cape Town. He averages 49.46 in 52 test matches, with a highest score of 309, is working hard for getting selection in the main squad.
Wasim Jaffer, who scored a double century against arch rival Pakistan team, could not show any impressive performance in Australia tour. He scored only 22 (4, 15, 3 and 0) runs in the fourth innings.
However, warm-up match was the last chance for Wasim Jaffer but he failed.
However, India team doesn’t announce their squad ahead of the third Test. But I hope Virender Sehwag should be their first choice.
