South Africa v West Indies 1st Test: West Indies got an historic win

West Indies has got an historical win against South Africa in their first of the three-match Test series. West Indies beat South Africa by 128 runs and one day to spare and lead the series 1-0.

Chasing a hard total of 389 to win the first Test, South Africa were dismissed for 260 after tea on the fourth day with one day in hand.

After thirty one months, West Indies has got a test match victory. For West Indies, it was the first away Test victory except against opposition Bangladesh or Zimbabwe. Last they beat England by an inning and 93 runs in Birmingham in June, 2000.

West Indies started their second innings in the fourth day with 146 for 8 was on Jerome Taylor 2 with Daren Powell, who didn’t make any score. West Indies could bat only 5.4 overs in the fourth day and got all out for 175.

South African spin bowler Paul Harris claimed last two wickets and he finished the day with four for 35 off 15.4 overs. Dale Steyn also claimed 3 wickets for 67 runs.

South Africa could manage only 260 runs in the second innings after West Indies were dismissed in the fourth day early. West Indian bowler Fidel Edward and Jerome Taylor got three wickets each. Fidel Edward claimed 3 for 37 with the most important wicket of Graeme Smith and Jaques Kallis who was supposed a danger man for West Indies. Jaques Kallis scored 85 runs that was the highest score in his side. AB de Villiers scored second highest runs in the second innings. He scored 60 runs off facing 132 balls. Andre Nel and Dale Steyn played some impressive innings but couldn’t help South Africa to save the match. Marlon Samuels finished South Africa’s innings taking the wicket of Makhaya Ntini.

Jarome Taylor who claimed 3 for 66 claimed the wicket of Ashwell Prince, AB de Villiers, andMark Boucher.

South Africa v West Indies 1st Test: West Indies is in better condition with 359 runs lead against South Africa

South Africa vs West Indies Test match is now in exciting condition. Host South Africa is trying hard to come back in the series. West Indies made a 359 run lead over South Africa on Friday despite a late collapse on the third of the Test.

After the end of the third day West Indies could manage 148 for 8 after dismissing South Africa for 195. West Indian medium pacer Dwayne Bravo finished the day taking four for 24. West Indies made 408 in their first innings. No one could play well against West Indies’s bowling attack except AB de Villiers. He is the highest run scorer in his side. He scored 59 runs off facing 127 balls. In his way of fifty he hit 9 boundaries.

South Africa finished their second day scoring 126-6 with Mark Boucher was on 20 and AB de Villiers was on 22. However, they could add 69 runs more in the third day.

Jerome Taylor and Daren Powell got three wickets each.

However, West Indies could not play well in their second innings. They lost their top 8 wickets within 148 runs. Marlon Samuels scored highest run in the second innings. He made 40 runs off facing 87 balls. Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who made seven consecutive Test fifty in the first innings could collect only 8 runs in the second innings.

South African bowler Dale Steyn finished the third day with taking 3 quick wickets for 53 runs. Second highest wicket taker is Paul Harris. He claimed two important wickets of

Ganga and Samuels added 65 for the third wicket before Ganga got run out scoring 45 runs.

Jerome Taylor was on 2 with Daren Powell who faced only one ball. Both these two players will start their fourth day and try to add more runs against South Africa.

West Indies tour of South Africa 2007/08: Match Schedule

South Africa vs West Indies match has started with the T20 match where West Indies got win by 5 wickets. South Africa team is now in good condition. Recently, this year they have shown some impressive performance against some hard team. South Africa played well against New Zealand team and got series win. Now, they are playing against West Indies team. First Test of the three-match Test series has already started. Now, West Indies has scored 408 runs. Chasing this score South Africa has lost their top five wickets within 122 runs. Now, AB de Villiers and Mark Boucher are now in crease.

West Indies has lost their form. They can’t show any impressive performance against any team. And they had to lose one ODI match against minnow Zimbabwe recently. So, West Indies should try their best to do well against South Africa. It shouldn’t be an easy task for them. They have to struggle hard.

Both South Africa and West Indies will play three-match Test series. Test series will finish at 14th January. After finish the Test series both teams will play their second T20 match.
